How to Play Sudoku
The Sudoku grid is 9×9, divided into nine 3×3 boxes. Some numbers are pre-filled as clues. Your job is to fill in the remaining empty cells so that each row, each column, and each 3×3 box contains exactly the digits 1 through 9 — with no repetition.
- Each row must contain the digits 1–9 exactly once
- Each column must contain the digits 1–9 exactly once
- Each of the nine 3×3 boxes must contain the digits 1–9 exactly once
- No guessing required — logic alone solves every puzzle
About Sudoku
Despite its Japanese name, Sudoku was invented by American Howard Garns in 1979 under the name "Number Place." It was popularized in Japan by Nikoli in 1984 and became a worldwide phenomenon in 2004 when Wayne Gould's computer-generated puzzles were published in The Times of London.
- Is the Sudoku solvable by logic alone?
- Yes — every well-formed Sudoku puzzle has exactly one solution that can be reached through pure logical deduction.
- What difficulty levels will be available?
- Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert — ranging from many pre-filled clues to very few.
